Harris Jones & Malone is proud to announce our affiliation with Blue Water Strategies, a consulting and public relations firm based in Gambrills, MD. Through this partnership, we hope to broaden our ability to develop successful government relations strategies for our clients. Blue Water Strategies’ James J. King and Alan R. Friedman have years of experience in the government, law, and business worlds that will greatly benefit Harris Jones & Malone’s future endeavors.
James J. King has first-hand experience in lawmaking. As a Republican legislator in the Maryland General Assembly, Mr. King served as a member of the House Economic Matters Committee, the Business Regulation Sub-Committee, the Unemployment Insurance Sub-Committee, and the Joint Committee on Base Realignment and Closure. His expertise made him the go-to legislator for crafting solutions to economic issues, and when King left the legislature in 2011he continued to work tirelessly as an advocate for the small business community in Maryland. As a business owner who employs hundreds of Marylanders, Mr. King has developed both an in-depth understanding of citizens’ interests and a vision for their advancement. His unique perspective has served Mr. King well as a Board Member of many important organizations, including the Anne Arundel County Business Roundtable, the United Way, and the Connor Cares Foundation.
Alan R. Friedman, an attorney with 20 years of experience, has spent much of his career as a valued advisor to top government officials in the Anne Arundel County Council, the Anne Arundel County General Assembly Delegation, and the Executive Branch. A real people person with the ability to communicate even the most complex issues effectively, Friedman has advanced legislation on public safety, education, and the environment, to the benefit of Anne Arundel County as a whole. Mr. Friedman also has experience working at the state level; he was a senior policy advisor and the Director of Legislative Relations to former Governor Robert Ehrlich. During his tenure in the Ehrlich administration, Friedman created a legacy that has translated into a prominent reputation in his work with Blue Water Strategies.
Both King and Friedman have been recently appointed by County Executive Steve Schuh as the chairmen of his transition committees. In their capacity as chairmen, King and Friedman will advise Schuh on different appointments and policies in his new administration.
