The 2015 Maryland Association of Counties Summer Conference will be held next week, from August 12 – August 15 at the Roland Powell Convention Center in Ocean City, Maryland. The theme of this year’s conference is “Energize. Mobilize. Capitalize.” emphasizing the importance of being proactive in regards to the State’s economy. Each year, approximately 2,000 elected county officials, senators, delegates, and other representatives of the State’s 23 counties and Baltimore City gather together to address the challenges they face, the actions they should take, and the steps they can make to achieve the most substantial gains for Maryland’s citizens.
This year’s participants will examine Maryland’s current economy from the perspective of the local government and discuss how to foster economic growth while promoting local business. The goal of the conference is to help all levels of government establish the strategic partners they need in order to create an environment where all branches works together toward a stronger economic outlook for the state of Maryland.
Thirty-five different educational sessions, including topics such as infrastructure, public safety, budget, education, planning, management, and development, will be covered this year. Individuals from all branches of government will have the chance to gain valuable information from colleagues, vendors, and other subject-matter experts from Maryland and surrounding states. MACo participants have access to over 250 exhibit booths staffed by representatives from organizations such as BGE, Aetna, Walmart, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Maryland Libraries, and many more. A varied program of meetings, briefings, presentations, and panel discussions, along with more festive meals and receptions will also be held.
